Face expression of animation character is a standard of how alive an animation film is. To make face expression, an animator should consider time effectivity from animation film making. One method that can be used to make character facial expression look alive and can decrease time of 3D animated character facial expression making is applying face tracking method using Microsoft Kinect. So the result is simulation that not only detects human face object, but detects motion of face-shaped objects too. Then produce 3D animated object facial expressions that average above 80% as animator expect. Range, light intensity, and light direction in the dark room affect Microsoft Kinect to capture facial expression. The application of face tracking method helps time effectiveness of making 3D animated object facial expressions with average time difference 4 minutes 42 second. On the eyebrows, Microsoft Kinect tends to detect the movement of the eyebrows are down. The use of dark color frame eyeglasses, affects Microsoft Kinect to capture eyebrows position.
